What a difference! - What a Service!
We had a new suit of sails made in 2007 for our yawl by one of the larger sail makers. In 2009, just two years later, first the jib split from top to bottom, then the mizzen. I contacted the sail makers, they weren’t interested, said it was UV. I pointed out we hadn’t seen any sun of note! Still not interested.
Collins to the rescue, I took the jib into them and they put a patch on it overnight and it was ready for business the next morning.
Soon we realised it wasn’t going to last the season, they made up a new sail during another night so we lost no business. It is what I call dedicated service to customers.
The same happened with the mizzen and their patch saw us through to the end of the season. We needed a new mizzen this year but because we had altered the rig slightly they had to measure it in situ. So at the end of March, as she came out of the shed, we quickly put the mizzen mast in, Nick Collins rushed down, measured up the sail and we had our new mizzen sail for the start of the season on April 1.
